West Portico, Angkor Wat
Built in the 12th century, Angor Wat was originally a Hindu temple of the Khmer Empire and dedicated to the god Vishnu ‘The Preserver’, who along with Brahma ‘The Creator’ and Shiva ‘the Destroyer’ makes up the Hindu Trimūrti (or great trinity). By the end of the 12th century, however, it had become a Buddhist temple, which it remains to this day.
