Two essential elements for an Argentine gaucho are his horse and his 'facón'. A facón is a large knife, traditionally with a triangular blade and a handle made of wood or horn. It is as integral to gaucho culture as the six-shooter revolver is to cowboys of the American West. This gaucho wears his tucked into the front of his tirador (belt).
