These Akha children are from an isolated village in Northern Laos. Their future will probably be very different from the lives of their grandparents or even their parents. They are certain to be impacted by the changing landscape and the pressures of modern civilization. Many Akha groups with villages in closer contact with outside peoples have already shed some of their cultural customs and practices.
